1909

Horace Wilfred Bradbury was born on 19th November 1909 in Nowgong, India, during the British Raj. One of six children to and Mabel Bradbury and Major Wilfred Bradbury.

1914

Horace attended St. Joseph’s College, North Point, Darjeeling before enrolling at The Lawrence Royal Military School in Shimla, along with his three brothers, George, Frederick and Roland.

1928

At the age of 19, Horace enlisted in the Royal Corps of Signals where he first saw active service on the North West Frontier in India (now Pakistan).

1939

Horace was appointed as Superintendent in the General Headquarters Wireless Station, New Delhi, India.

1943

Horace joined the 10th Indian Divisional Signals as Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant (RQMS) before returning to England to undertake responsibility for ‘Q’ Arrangements of 1,100 Italian POWs towards the end of the Second World War. He then married Kathleen Mary Bartley before being posted to Air Formation Signals in Singapore.

1951

Horace obtained honourable discharge from the military and returned to England to settle down with Kathleen. He initially found employment with a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England before transitioning into the private security and risk management sector where he drew upon his previous military experience and began providing a range of protective security and investigative services to organisations and HNW clientèle across the country.
Horace retired at 65 years of age and later passed away in 1985 in Leicestershire, England, at the age of 76 years. The business ceased trading.

2004

The business was reborn in 2004 as ‘Bradburys Security and Investigations’, a small private partnership operating on a shoestring budget providing bespoke security and investigative services limited to the UK and Northern Ireland.

2006

A steady but measured incline in instructions and revenue enabled the business to grow in its intended direction.

2009

Despite the modest size of the business, the reputation for being a bespoke provider with a relentless drive to go above and beyond client expectations presented opportunities for additional growth, in particularly across Europe, Africa and Asia where the business began to make an impact as a dedicated and trustworthy subcontractor to a handful of major players within the sector.

2010

Without losing site of the original two core offerings of security and investigative services, additional business lines were introduced to provide a wider scope of services to clients and customers including a dedicated travel risk management division.

2011

Influenced by the broader geographical region and scope of our work, a decision was made to change the business name from ‘Bradburys Security and Investigations’ to ‘Bradburys Global Risk Partners’.

2012

The expansion of the strategic political risk team dedicated to providing analysis for organisations surrounding overseas investment-related risks including political, country and economic risks begins attracting interest from distinguished colleges and universities including:

 

  • Kings College London, United Kingdom
  • The University of Queensland, Australia
  • UCL, United Kingdom
  • American University in Cairo, Egypt
  • The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, United States

The department launches an internship scheme for graduates seeking to enter into one or more of the following professions:

  • Political economy and strategic analysis in emerging markets
  • Anti-money laundering
  • Political risk analysis and consulting
  • Geopolitical risk advisory
  • Terrorism and political violence analysis
  • International relations

2015

As a result of the efforts of our travel risk management division, we were accepted as an official partner of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Global TravelAware Safety Campaign, providing security and safety advice for British nationals travelling and residing overseas.

2016

Winner of the Corporate Vision Small Business Awards for Best UK Crisis Management Consultancy.
The company signs the Armed Forces Covenant and pledges its support to the Armed Forces Community, its veterans and reservists including service personnel who have been wounded or fallen ill including support for military spouses and partners. The company also commits to providing support through advocacy, projects, recruitment and HR policy.
Due to continued growth and implementation of additional divisions with branch-off services, the business name was changed to ‘Bradburys Global Risk Group’ and a decision was made to incorporate the organisation into a Private Limited Company with clients referring to the company as ‘Bradburys’, ‘Bradburys Group’ and ‘BGRG’.

2017

The company is presented with the Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award by the UK Ministry of Defence in recognition for our commitment to the Defence community. The award was considered by a selection board at regional level and chaired by a senior military officer with the nomination being considered against the award criteria.
Inception of GlobalAssist™ the International Medical and Security Assistance arm of Bradburys providing a dedicated crisis management response including Search & Rescue (SAR) extraction, evacuation and repatriation for travellers in addition to major incident and humanitarian response.

2019

Proud participant of the United Nations Global Compact, a strategic initiative to align our business strategies and operations with the Ten universal principles on human rights; labour; environment and anti-corruption along with the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our business operations, corporate social responsibility and sustainability programme.

2020

UK Government’s ‘Cyber Essentials’ and ‘Cyber Essentials Plus’ Compliance Accreditation received following an independent audit from a CREST approved organisation.
Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation attained for achieving excellence in health and safety across the company’s operational lines of close protection; security guarding, key holding, event stewarding and mobile patrol services.
Certified as a ‘Disability Confident Committed’ Employer by the UK government as an employer focused on improving employment opportunities and providing career development for employees with disabilities.
Signatory of the Prompt Payment Code (PPC), a code of practice administered by the Office of the Small Business Commissioner on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) which sets standards for fair payment practices between organisations of any size and their suppliers.
Progression to ‘Disability Confident’ Employer by the UK government.
Expression of our public support for the Partnership for Global LGBTI Equality (PGLE) and the United Nations Standards of Conduct for Business Tackling Discrimination against LGBTIQ+ People.
Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) accreditation received in recognition as a safe, sustainable, stable and ethical business to work with.
Proud to play a fundamental role in providing security and asset protection along with client employee welfare and monitoring services to Covid testing laboratories and R&D facilities during the pandemic.

2021

As part of our ongoing participation and commitment to aligning our sustainability strategies with the United Nations Global Compact and to take action on advancing our societal goals, we submitted our first Communication on Progress across the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Public signing of the United Nations Anti-corruption Call to Action, an appeal by the private sector to Governments to promote anti-corruption measures and to implement policies that will establish systems of good governance.
Formally signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), a set of Principles offering guidance to business on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community. Established by UN Global Compact and UN Women, the WEPs are informed by international labour and human rights standards and grounded in the recognition that businesses have a stake in, and a responsibility for, gender equality and women’s empowerment.
